Mashramani plans were tragically cut short for Daniel David Hinds
after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a nearby culvert
at Rahaman’s Park, East Bank Demerara, yesterday.
Hinds, who recently became a father, lived at Mocha Arcadia, East
Bank Demerara (EBD). According to reports, Hinds was traveling at a fast
rate when he noticed traffic policemen on the roadway in the vicinity
of Rahaman’s Park. He was heading home when he lost control of his
vehicle PPP 7130, reportedly while trying to slow down so that the
traffic police would not see him speeding. He subsequently lost control
of his vehicle which crashed into a nearby drain.
According to eyewitnesses, the car spun three times before hitting the edge of the nearby drain and toppled.
At the accident scene, Leon Hinds, the deceased’s older brother was inconsolable and in a state of disbelief.
Relatives described Hinds as an easy going individual. When Kaieteur
News visited the deceased mother’s home family members were in a state
of shock.
The dead man’s mother opined that her son’s death was of an occult
nature. She was heard saying, “They killed my son with obeah!” “And
she (name of woman) at home laughing and saying let that be a lesson for
the family”.
She said that even her son’s boss, Victor McKenzie, the owner of Pretty
Posse Taxi Service where her son was employed, was in shock and spoke
well of her son. It was noted that Hinds was off duty when the accident
occurred.
His reputed wife, Naomi Vanbuckley, who is the mother of the victim’s
one month old son, said that they lived together with his stepmother and
father.
She said that Daniel was on his way home to collect her and their son.
She related that she was at home when she received the news via phone calls from Hinds’ workmates.
David Daniel Hinds is survived by his reputed wife, one month old son,
